This is the only example of this species I have ever seen, and I would have walked straight by it if not for a learned friend who casually pointed it out to me, not realizing it would be a first. 

It graced me with it's presence long enough to achieve two of the better butterfly photographs I have. 

It was found on the Italian side of the Simplon Pass.
